Jean-Claude Van Damme is not often a name that graces these movie news pages, and that's mainly because he doesn't really make films - in the strictest sense of the word - instead, it's generally slow motion sequences of him doing the splits in mid air for ninety-odd minutes. Well, with the success of JCVD, the strange cinematic/reality hybrid currently doing the rounds, he's apparently been given the chance to make a sequel to his first (and best) movie, Bloodsport. The former ballet dancer had these strange, nonsensical words to spew to Total Film: "I want to do it now in a very mature way, where the guy from Bloodsport is a complete bum, maybe abusing his son." There are lots of things wrong with that sentence, but one would assume that by "that guy" Van Damme means the main character, Frank Dux, who is a real person. Now, Van Damme was best buds with Dux up until a few years ago when a messy law suit tore their friendship apart, so one would assume Dux would not take this too well. On the studio reaction to his pitch he said: "They told me, ‘No, no, no! You cannot make a movie in America where a father is abusing his son physically! It’s wrong. And you cannot be a guy on drugs doing karate and shit like that.’ I said, ’Why? Why? Tell me why." We are not making this up...
