The upcoming Irish period action-thriller Black 47 is set to receive its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival next month.
Black 47 joins the likes of Jim Sheridan's The Boxer, Neil Jordan's The Butcher Boy and John Michael McDonagh's The Guard in having its world premiere at the festival, which runs from February 15th for ten days. Black 47 joins the likes of Wes Anderson's Isle Of Dogs in having its world premiere at the festival.
The film, which stars Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Barry Keoghan, Moe Dunford and Sarah Greene, is set during the Irish Famine and sees an Irish ranger, played by James Frecheville, set out on a path of revenge after he finds his brother murdered by the English. However, a famed tracker - played by Hugo Weaving - is sent to stop him, who just so happens to be his former comrade in the British Army.
No Irish release date has been confirmed as of yet.
