This summer marks twenty years since sci-fi hit Men in Black arrived on our screens and gave the world the easiest Halloween costume ever for many a year to come.
It seems though that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were not originally supposed to star in two of their most iconic roles. Speaking to the Huffington Post recently, director Barry Sonnenfeld said that it was actually Chris O'Donnell and Clint Eastwood that the studio and Steven Spielberg (executive producer) wanted to cast.
"[Spielberg] told me I had to go to dinner with Chris O'Donnell and convince Chris to be in the movie," Sonnenfeld said.
"But I knew I wanted Will Smith, so I told Chris that I wasn't a very good director and I didn't think the script was very good and if he had any other options he shouldn't do Men in Black. He let it be known the next day that he was not interested."
While Sonnenfield also said he pushed for the "very intimidating" Lee Jones, and so, Agent K and Agent J were born.
Thank God for that, could you ever imagine Chris O'Donnell being this cool?
