With his successful stint hosting SNL, it looks like Tracy Morgan is finally bouncing back after his horrific car crash last year.

It now looks like Morgan is keeping the momentum going as he's close to signing up for the Richard Pryor biopic that's currently in pre-production. Morgan is set to play Red Foxx, perhaps best known from the sitcom Sandford And Son and his explicit comedy albums in the '60s and '70s. Foxx was an iconic black comedian, one who inspired countless acts - including Richard Pryor himself.

Comedian Mike Epps is set to play Pryor, whilst Kate Hudson will play Pryor's wife, Jennifer Lee. Orpah Winfrey and Eddie Murphy have been cast as Pryor's grandmother and father respectively whilst other comedians are expected to make small cameos here and there.

Directed by Lee Daniels, the film is heavily favoured for the Oscars in 2017 with producer Harvey Weinstein laying the foundations for it already.

So, thoughts? We're just happy to see Tracy Morgan back out and doing his thing again. His work on 30 Rock was one of the highlights of the show and his standup material is always a gas, so why shouldn't he play one of the most well-known comedians of the '60s? It fits completely.

The untitled Richard Pryor biopic is expected for release in late 2016.
