The Total Recall remake to star Colin Farrell and be directed by Len Wiseman is set to be one of the biggest budgeted blockbusters in recent memory, with estimates putting the budget at $200 million. But what about changes to the plot?
Hugely successful producer Neal Moritz spoke to Collider.com about the film, and spewed a few interesting nuggets. First, the film will be very different than Paul Verhoeven's 1990 flick "It’s closer to the book, the big difference is we don’t go to space. Instead of it being a spaceship that takes us to another planet, there’s something that takes us from one side of the planet to another that’s really interesting." He then added, "It’s a real world, a real future world, where the cities have just gotten so overcrowded that the cities are just built up, up, up, up. We’re playing it like a real world, but there are all these technological advancements."
On top of all of that info we've also learned that it will not shoot, or be converted into 3D. That is a reason to rejoice, as it means you won't have to pay more money to see essentially the same thing and give yourself a headache. Good times. Filming will begin in Toronto in May.
