Between comedy, drama and musical theatre (well, comedic singing and dancing, if that counts), is there anything Chris Pratt can't do?
Chris Pratt became a household name largely thanks to his role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. But the actor was around for years and gave us tonnes of memorable scenes before that.
To TV buffs, Pratt was the lovable, dim-witted Andy Dwyer on 'Parks and Rec' before becoming Peter Quill/Star Lord. And before that he starred on series like 'Everwood' and 'The OC.'
In film, he often played the best friend/jerk boyfriend in the likes of 'Bride Wars', 'The Five Year Engagement' and 'Wanted'. He also had supporting roles in major awards contenders like 'Moneyball' and 'Zero Dark Thirty.'
He earned leading man status with 'GOTG'. Since then, other major roles have included 'The Lego Movie', 'Jurassic World' and its sequel, 'The Magnificent Seven' and 'Passengers.'
Across a career spanning almost two decades, Pratt has accumulated over 50 film and TV credits. Thus, our task of picking out his five best scenes wasn't an easy one.
We've tended to opt for his funnier roles just because he does comedy so damn well.
Thus on his birthday, here are our picks of Chris Pratt's 5 best scenes.
5. 'The OC' - Naked Che
Admittedly, it's a very short scene, and Chris Pratt's role on the series as Che, Summer's activist college friend, only lasted nine episodes. Still, this scene in which he sings about a polar bear, in the nip, to a very awkward Seth, is a highlight. It proves the knack that Pratt had for comedy from early on.
4. 'Wanted' - Wesley has a breakdown and Barry gets his comeuppance
While the star of 'Wanted' is James McAvoy, and indeed this scene focusses on his character Wesley's breakdown, it's be incomplete without Pratt's Barry. To put the scene in context, in case you haven't seen the film (which you should, it's awesome), Barry is Wesley's best friend and colleague. He's also sleeping with Wesley's girlfriend, which Wesley knows but won't confront Barry about. Sick of everyone's s--t, Wesley gets back at Barry in the best way in the finale of this scene.
3. 'The Five-Year Engagement' - Alex gets married, sings to his bride
In our opinion, 'The Five-Year Long Engagement' is one of the most underrated rom coms out there, even if it does have a few flaws such as an overextended running length (ironically). Part of its charm comes from the supporting performances by Pratt and 'GLOW's Alison Brie. In this scene, their characters wed and after sharing an adorable 'belly bump', Pratt sings "Cucurrucucu Paloma". It's sweet but also hilarious.
2. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' - "Come and Get Your Love"
Has any other superhero in modern movie history had this great an introduction? We think not. Even with credits rolling over it, this sequence in which Quill saunters on the scene while singing and dancing to Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love" is iconic. And that callback to the scene in 'Endgame' was pure genius.
1. 'Parks and Recreation' - All of Andy Dwyer
So we slightly cheated with this one. Big whoop. But seriously, how can you pick just one scene from Pratt's time as Andy Dwyer on 'Parks and Rec'? It simply can't be done. There are too many hilarious moments, classic one-liners, surprisingly tender bits.
A standout moment has to be when Andy ate those silver M&Ms. But we've also posted this impressive compilation which, even if you haven't seen the show, you'd have to agree, is Chris Pratt at his best.
