The adaptation of Neil Gaiman's graphic novel Sandman is moving forward with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David S. Goyer and Gaiman himself working on the project.
Although it was expected for Gordon-Levitt to play the central character of Morpheus, it's now understood that Levitt will direct a script by Goyer.
Gaiman stated in a recent interview that he'd prefer British actor Tom Hiddleston to play the lead role, although admitted that Benedict Cumberbatch was also in the mix.
"As far as I'm concerned, anyone who sounds English with great cheekbones can probably pull it off."
Gaiman has been reticent in the past about adapting Sandman into a film, stating that he'd prefer no movie be made rather than a good one.
Sandman has had a long road to the cinema, and there's no guarantee that this iteration will make it either.
However, we're hopeful as we're huge fans of Gaiman's work.
