Deadline.com are this morning saying than none other than Tom Hardy has been cast in the next Batman movie. No idea who he's playing, but he's definitely in there... apparently.
Speculation has of course now reached fever-pitch that he'll be The Riddler; but surely that news would have leaked along with the casting? Given the scope of characters to come from Chris Nolan's Batman universe in the last two films alone, Hardy could be anyone - not just a character already in the DC stratosphere. Sir Michael Caine recently let slip that production on the film is due to begin in April, so we should see it sometime in 2012.
As for Hardy, he was great in Inception, so it's easy to see why Nolan would want to work with him again. He also has a hole in his schedule after Mad Max was pushed back a year.
