There was a lot of shock amongst Deadpool fans a few weeks back when it was announced that Tim Miller would no longer be directing the sequel to this year's biggest surprise hit.
Many felt that Miller was a huge reason for the original's success and the rumours of creative differences between the director and star, Ryan Reynolds made for some unpleasant reading for the fans.
At the time it was reported that the creative differences came down to Miller wanting to take the sequel in a different direction and make a heavily stylised version that would cost three times the original's budget while Reynolds was in favour of keeping the style and tone similar to that of the original.
There were also reports that there were disputes over Miller wanting to cast Kyle Chandler as Cable. Over the weekend, Miller appeared on CG Garage's 100th episode and took the opportunity to dismiss some of the reports that had been doing the rounds.
"I just want to say one thing to the geek audience out there because it's important to me what the geeks and nerds of the world think because they are my brothers and sisters: I didn't want to make some stylized movie that was three times the budget."
"I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that's the right movie to make for the character," he continued.
"So don't believe what you read on the Internet. I wanted to do the same thing. Kyle Chandler was not going to be Cable."
So now that Miller has effectively rubbished the 'creative differences' story that Warner Bros. put out there, what really happened between the creative team? We may never know for certain but hopefully Miller will tell his whole side of the story in the future.
