It's long been rumoured, with Winona Ryder even casually admitting that it was on the way, but today it's official - Beetlejuice 2 is happening.
Tim Burton confirmed the news in a recent interview, saying that Beetlejuice 2 "is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming."
Yes, that's Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder confirmed and signed on to appear in the sequel to Beetlejuice. And, if you're counting, that's three times we've said it so IT'S NOW REALLY OFFICIAL.
It's going to be an interesting ride for Burton, who's had more flops than hits of recent memory. Dark Shadows and Big Eyes both failed commercially, despite decent reviews from critics and audiences alike. Going back to the well with Beetlejuice might be a smart move for Burton, so let's hope it works out.
In the meantime, let's reminisce about Beetlejuice and the suprisingly decent cartoon series based on the movie.
