The incinerator scene of ‘Toy Story 3’ had us all blubbering and now it looks like the follow-up, ‘Toy Story 4’, is going to get us teary-eyed all over again if this insight from Tim Allen is anything to go by.
Allen is of course renowned for playing Buzz Lightyear across the Disney Pixar ‘Toy Story’ series, and chatted about its fourth instalment in an interview with ‘The Talk.’
He described the ending to the upcoming movie as “emotional” and talked of how he struggled to read through the script.
“I gotta resist getting emotional,” the actor said. “I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story. It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled.
“I couldn’t even get through the last scene. I would love to be a Washington leaker.”
Allen was careful not to give away any more details though, saying, “I just can’t do it. I can’t give any more away. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”
Allen previously told Entertainment Weekly that ‘Toy Story 4’ is “emotional and funny and exciting and different and took it to a whole new level. It walks the line between comfort — you know what’s going on — and discomfort — wondering what’s gonna happen.
“Somehow they were able to advance this wonderful story that could have easily ended with No. 3 being the best of the bunch.”
Aside from Allen, the movie also sees the return of Tom Hanks (Woody), Joan Cusack (Jessie), Annie Potts (Bo Peep), Bonnie Hunt (Dolly), Laurie Metcalf (Mrs Davis, aka Andy’s mom), Kristen Schaal (Trixie), Jodi Benson (Barbie) and Estelle Harris (Mrs Potato Head).
‘Toy Story 4’ is directed by Josh Cooley (‘Inside Out’) and is set for release on June 21, 2019.
