Marvel revealed a slew of information about the third installment in the 'Thor' series today, including the confirmation of Cate Blanchett and Mark Ruffalo's involvement in the film and the surprise addition of the great Jeff Goldblum to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The studio confirmed that Blanchett will be playing the villain Hela to Chris Hemsworth's Thor, who will be fighting alongside Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk. Joining Blanchett in the villain camp is Goldblum as 'the eccentric Grandmaster' and Karl Urban as Skurge, while Tessa Thompson has been confirmed as the hero Valkyrie.
"The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet," said producer Kevin Feige. "The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."
All of these sit on top of the already award and talent-heavy cast, including Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and, of course, Tom Hiddleston. It's basically an 'Avengers' all of its own at this stage.
'Thor: Ragnarok' is set for release on October 27th, 2017.
