Big screen star and all round charismatic action man Thomas Jane, has signed up for a television project at HBO called Hung. According to The Hollywood Reporter "it’s a dark comedy pilot, directed by Oscar winner Alexander Payne (Sideways), centres on Ray (Jane), a well-endowed struggling middle-age high school basketball coach who figures out a way to use his best asset". The fact that the brilliant Alexander Payne is behind it bodes very well, as does the fact that it’s on the beacon for broadcasting quality that is HBO. Expect this to get picked up as soon as bosses view the pilot. It sounds suitably smutty, and with the exception of Entourage, HBO doesn’t really have a juggarnaught ala The Sopranos to anchor the cable the station in the ratings.
