In case you missed it over the weekend, the 'Game of Thrones' bosses DB Weiss and David Benioff quit 'Star Wars'.
The duo were set to write and produce a new trilogy in a galaxy far, far away. They'd also signed on to pen other titles in a new 'Star Wars' series.
They blamed the 5-year Netflix deal that they signed back in August (worth a reported $250 million) as the reason. The go-to "creative differences" have also been sited as a reason for their departure.
Variety recently wrote about how Benioff and Weiss had ambitious plans and a new direction for 'Star Wars'.
They wanted their works to exist apart from the Skywalker family saga that comprised the franchise’s primary nine-film series.
The 'Star Wars' period the pair had intended to explore how the Jedi came to exist. They would've made a trilogy on the subject matter, working as a prequel.
However, Lucasfilm execs and the creators began to diverge, especially after the Netflix deal.
There's been a lot of rumblings in the 'Game of Thrones' world too as the prequel series starring Naomi Watts has been cancelled.
