Hello there entertainment.ie readers! We're James, Tristan, Connor and Bradley from The Vamps. And we'd like to cordially welcome you to our takeover.
In case you hadn't noticed, The Vamps are taking over the entertainment.ie website for a whole day. We've been busy working away on writing articles, coming up with quizzes, and having a laugh with each other on social media.
We wanted to let you inside our minds for the day, and we've decided to create a list of the most iconic movies that we each grew up with that defined our childhoods. Being children of the '90s, our picks are very much geared towards that era, so we hope you enjoy our trip down movie memory lane.
The franchises
Countless franchises defined out childhood while growing up, but none more so than the holy trinity of 'Harry Potter', 'Lord of the Rings', and 'Star Wars'.
Bradley Simpson - All of the 'Harry Potter' movies have to be on top of the list. They were just so big and influential at the time.
James McVey - I watched the 'Star Wars' films, number four, five, and six, when I was very young. And for me, those were the best movies I'd ever seen. When I saw 'Return of the Jedi' when I was about eight years old, it's like, "Oh my God!" *head explodes*
Connor Ball - I loved 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy as well. The soundtrack is still one of the best too.
Tristan Evans - It's those three, isn't it? 'Harry Potter', 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Star Wars'. Can't get any better than them.
Animation classics
Connor - Other movies we loved watching while growing up and remind us of our childhoods were literally all of the animated movies that came out, starting with 'Finding Nemo' of course.
Tristan - 'The Incredibles' was so good to watch too. And Mike Myers' ogre and Eddie Murphy's noble steed Donkey in 'Shrek' were a hoot as well.
Connor - 'Shark Tale' and the 'Car Wash' song was so great too!
And the rest
Bradley Simpson - Has everyone out there seen 'Dude, What's My Car?' with Sean William Scott and Ashton Kutcher ("and then...")? Good. Well, me and my sister learnt that part of the movie where he's ordering food off by heart. We used to watch a lot of Jim Carey movies too, like 'Ace Ventura'. So many Jim Carey movies shaped my childhood.
James McVey - Don't forget 'Jumanji' with Robin Williams. I still find that terrifying.
Bradley - The weirdly beautiful 'Donnie Darko' with Jake Gyllenhaal too. That also has a cracking soundtrack. A lot of these movies do, to be fair.
James - The 'Scream' movies as well, they were horribly scary. Or maybe they were just horrible.
Tristan - And then we verged into the 'SAW' movie franchise after that, which is a whole different ball game.
Bradley - 'SAW' was the first horror movie I'd ever seen. It's not even horror, it's just awful.
The Vamps' highly-anticipated fifth record 'Cherry Blossom' releases everywhere today.
