The Star Wars universe contains aliens, Jedis and clones, but there's still been something missing, an LGBT character. Until now, that is.
Paul S. Kemp's upcoming novel Lords of the Sith will feature an LGBT character, a first for the Star Wars series. The character will be known as Moff Mors, and is described as "an incredibly capable leader and spends much of the book working hard to prevent absolute failure" who "happens to be a lesbian".
Speaking about the introduction of the character, editor for the Lords of the Sith Shelly Shapiro said that "This is certainly the first [LGBT] character in canon. But there was a gay Mandalorian couple, so it's not brand new," but added that "Star Wars is as diverse (or more so because they have alien species) as humanity is in real life and we don't want to pretend it's not. It just felt perfectly natural".
The book is set to be released on April 28th by Del Rey (a part of Random House publishing) and the events will take place after those of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
