Rising star of the popular US version of The Killing, Joel Kinnaman is in advanced negotiations to headline the remake of Robocop, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Jose Padilha (Brazilian flick Elite Squad) is helming the flick, and had previously said that he wanted Michael Fassbender for the lead role. But being how Fassbender's star has risen, they probably can't afford the Dingle man. Kinnaman was due to star in the big budgeted King Arthur film, but that fell through after funding studio Warner Bros. decided they wanted to cut the budget. The Swedish actor had a tiny role (literally blink and you missed it) in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake, and also popped up in Safe House.
Hollywood seems to really like this guy, and he is pretty damn good in The Killing.
