Now that we've got an official name for the first Star Wars spin-off movie - Rogue One, in case you didn't know - Disney / Lucasfilm is already looking ahead to the next one.

The last rumours suggest that the second Anthology movie, to give their official title, will feature Han Solo and Boba Fett. Nothing knew there, right?

According to inside reports, it's understood that Disney are very keen to delve into the "hive of scum and villany" world that was briefly touched upon in A New Hope and again in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

As well as this, familiar characters such as Lando Calrissian (SQUEEEE!) and Chewbacca will play a part in this new entry.

This all tracks with Disney's strategy for the spin-off movies. After all, they flat out said that Rogue One is a "war movie" along the lines of Zero Dark Thirty, Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan.

Han Solo and the Tattooine sequences in A New Hope borrowed heavily from John Ford and Spaghetti Westerns, so they're clearly trying to make this second Anthology movie into a sort-of Western.

Which, frankly, sounds amazing.

Now that Josh Trank has departed from the second spin-off Star Wars, there's an opening for someone to swoop in and take over.

It's believed that Disney are favouring Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn, however it's quite likely it'll be neither. After all, Favreau's busy working on The Jungle Book for Disney and Vaughn will also be working on the Kingsman sequel as well.

So, the question - who would we like to see take on Han Solo Vs. Boba Fett?

Obviously, they need someone with a strong character background that can work with a decent-sized budget and turn in an entertaining product.

Favreau and Vaughn are the likely choices, but we've got a few completely out-of-nowhere picks in mind.

Keeping in mind that the Han Solo Vs. Boba Fett is going to be a Western most likely, we think someone like John Maclean who did Slow West or even someone like Ed Zwick, who did Glory and The Last Samurai, could be worth a go.

Disney / Lucasfilm has, so far, relied on younger directors who grew up with Star Wars and are relying on their enthusiasm. It's a smart move and it looks to be paying off, but why not give some old hands a shot at returning to relevance?

For example, John McTiernan - the director of classics such as Predator, Die Hard and The Hunt For Red October - is back on the scene and looking for work. Could you imagine a Star Wars movie directed by the guy who did Die Hard?

Exactly.
