After an extensive search of just about every teenage male in the English-speaking world, the new Spider-Man has been revealed.
Tom Holland, who starred in How I Live Now alongside our own Saoirse Ronan and BBC's excellent Tudor drama Wolf Hall, has been selected to star as Peter Parker, better known as your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
His first on-screen appearance will be in next year's Captain America: Civil War, where it's understood Spidey will play a small but significant role in the film's plot.
What's more, the director for the next Spider-Man has also been named as Jon Watts.
Watts directed the critical darling Cop Car with Kevin Bacon and previously worked for - get this - The Onion. Yes, that Onion.
Favourites to replace Andrew Garfield included Thomas Brodie-Sangster from Game of Thrones and Dylan O'Brien from Maze Runner, however Holland was also considered in the running for quite some time.
So, thoughts? Holland's got an impressive resume behind him, especially Wolf Hall, so we're certain he can do the dramatic aspect of it.
What will win over fans, however, is the comedic aspect. Spider-Man was always a witty, sarcastic type. Therefore, whosoever plays him will need to have that edge.
There's been little we've seen so far in Holland's filmography that suggests he has that edge - but who knows. Maybe that part of his range just wasn't tapped.
Watts, on the other hand, looks like a decent choice. Again, Sony - who'll be producing the new film under Marvel's shared universe - have opted for a director with indie credentials.
Marc Webb, who directed the 'Amazing' series with Garfield, previously helmed manic-dream-girl-switcheroo (500) Days of Summer with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.
What do you think? Is Holland the right choice? Sound off in the comments!
