The IFTA nominations have been announced this morning and after a fantastic year for Irish film that saw representatives in almost all of the major categories at the Oscars it's no surprise to see the same names lead the way here.
Following their Oscar noms, Room and Brooklyn have eight and seven nominations respectively. Directors Lenny Abrahamson and John Crowley are both deservedly in the running for Best Director while Emma Donoghue has also been recongnised in the Best Script category. Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay all received nominations for their respective performances.
Simon Fitzmaurice's My Name is Emily has also been recognised with an incredible eight nominations including a Best Script nomination for Fitzmaurice. John Carney's Sing Street, which only recently screened at ADIFF also has eight nominations including a Best Supporting Actor nod for Jack Reynor.
Finally, Benjamin Cleary's Stutterer is presumably the favourite in the Best Short category after his Oscar win. Though he'll be competing against himself as he was he wrote the script for Love is a Sting.
As has already been announced, Liam Neeson will be presented with a special award on the night to recognise his 'Outstanding Contribution to Cinema'.
You can see all of the TV nominations here.
