The trailer for 'The Matrix Resurrections' is finally here and it's as action-packed (and trippy) as you'd expect it to be.

Some images and footage for 'The Matrix Resurrections' dropped earlier in the week thanks to the official interactive website WhatIsTheMatrix.com.

Familiar faces returning to the franchise are Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith in the roles of Neo, Trinity, and Niobe, respectively.

Lambert Wilson is also back for his role as The Merovingian. Also making a comeback is Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson

New cast members include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Christina Ricci.

Lana Wachowski directs 'The Matrix Resurrections' and co-wrote the script with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon.

Watch Neo wander around in a haze and take "medication" (the blue pill) so he can accept the reality with which he is presented...

He meets a familiar face in Trinity. And then he takes the red pill, having been offered it by Yahya's character (who has to be young Morpheus, right?).

Cue more characters inducting Neo into the "real world" and lots of very cool set pieces.

'The Matrix Resurrections' hits cinemas on 22 December.
