The Lorax opened huge on top of the American box-office this weekend, far exceeding expectations; while the much smaller budgeted Project X also impressed.
The Dr Seuss adaptation grossed an estimated $71.3 million dollars over its opening three days, while Project X took $21 million over the same period - off of a small $12 million budget. Reviews for 'X' have been surprisingly negative; something I'm putting down to a generational gap with some critics. Granted, I like stupid comedies - I always have - but it's a funny and innovative production regardless. Watch it with an audience, which is maybe what some of the aforementioned scribes need to do.
Project X is open now, The Lorax doesn't have a confirmed date as of yet.
