We’re still not happy about the Oscar snub.
But what makes up for that, is the fact that director Rob Schrab has signed on to helm the sequel to everyone’s favourite building blocks based blockbuster.
Schrab, who has directed episodes of Blue Mountain State, Suits, Community, Parks and Rec, The Mindy Project, and Workaholics. He’s basically been a part of all the shows we binge watch every year, so we’re pretty sure they made a good call here.
The original’s writers, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, are both coming back to pen the sequel, and have already expressed their delight with the news.
“We are so excited to collaborate with Rob,” Lord and Miller said. “He is a comedy genius, a visual savant, and we have been stalking him for years. No one works harder than Rob, and his aesthetic, combined with his sense of humour, bring a strong, unique, thoughtful, and passionately nerdy voice to this project. People who know him are slapping their foreheads today and saying, ‘Of course!’”
Steady on lads, you’re coming across a bit over eager. But to be fair, we’re just as excited.
Looks like we'll have to wait till 2018 to get our hands on it though, so until then you'll just have to be happy with the Ninjago and LEGO Batman spin offs. We're not complaining.
