More news flowing in today to compound the sadness of Philip Seymour Hoffman's untimely death. It has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that, Hoffman had only one more critical scene to shoot in The Hunger Games: Mokingjay Part 2, before his sad passing last week. This building on the statement last week that the third and final installment of the franchise would be unaffected by Hoffman's passing
Insiders at Lionsgate insist, however, that the unfortunate circumstance will not have an overall affect on the finishing of the movie.
"We’re all extraordinarily sad, but as it relates to production, it’s going to have no impact. Obviously, we're going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole. His performances in both [remaining] movies will be up to the best of his craft. We feel it will be a good tribute to him." an executive at Lionsgate informed THR
Hoffman's character, head gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, plays a central role in the Mokingjay installment of the series and it is believed that any loose ends regarding the character will be resolved digitally. An insider close to the project commenting;
"You can do digital things, you can have conversations where you’re not focusing on him but the people he’s talking to,"
Bitter sweet news for fans of the legendary actor, as we await the first part of the final installment of The Hunger Games: Mokingjay on the 21st of November this year.
