We're a long way from seeing Han Solo and Lando Calrissian back together on screen, but the journey starts today.
It's been confirmed by Lucasfilm - together with a very odd picture of the cast squeezed in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon - that the Han Solo standalone movie is now officially in production. The as-yet untitled film will focus on Solo and Chewbacca's "adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian."
As we know (and freaked out over), Donald Glover will play Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson will play Solo's mentor, Garrus Shrike, whilst Khaleesi herself, Emilia Clarke, will play an unspecified role in the film. Meanwhile, Westworld's Thandie Newton and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge round out the ensemble cast whilst Hail Caesar! breakout star Alden Ehrenreich plays Han Solo.
Behind the scenes, Screenwriting Legend™ Lawrence Kasdan, together with his son Jon, have written the screenplay whilst Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be directing.
All things going according to plan, the film will hit screens on May 25th, 2018. In the meantime, appreciate this .gif of Han Solo looking perplexed.
