Given how iconic Blade Runner became after its release in 1982, hopes have been high for the sequel, which takes place 30 years after the events of its predecessor.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) and scripted by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Alien: Covenant), the new film stars Ryan Gosling as an LAPD officer named K who unearths a long-buried secret that could potentially plunge the world into chaos. Harrison Ford returns to the franchise as Rick Deckard and they are joined by Jared Leto as the villainous Niander Wallace.
The first Blade Runner 2049 reactions have now been officially posted by Twitter from reviewers covering major websites such as Collider, JoBlo.com, CinemaBlend, ScreenJunkies, ComingSoon.net, Fandango, The Guardian and Vanity Fair.
As you can see, their words are full of nothing but love and praise.

Denis Villeneuve is unquestionably one of the elite working directors & there's no excuse if Deakins doesn't win the Oscar #BladeRunner2049

BLADE RUNNER 2049: The thrill of mood and extensional joys of self-reflection. Villeneuve’s slow-burn obsessions have never felt more SEEN.
