Jennifer Kent's The Babdook was a critical success when it landed in cinemas in 2014.
Since then, there's been all sorts of rumours swirling about her next film - including some whispers that she'd be taking on Brie Larson's entrance to the MCU with Captain Marvel. However, it's clear that Kent is sticking to her guns and is working on an indie film in her native Australia.
This time around, however, it's a period piece set in 1825 and features an Irish actress front and centre. The Nightingale stars The Fall's Aisling Franciosi as "a beautiful 21-year-old Irish female convict who witnesses the brutal murder of her husband and baby by her soldier master and his cronies. Unable to find justice, she takes an Aboriginal male tracker with her through the hellish wilderness to seek revenge on the men, and gets much more than she bargained for."
Others named in the cast include Me Before You's Sam Claflin, Australian actors Damon Herriman and Ewen Leslie, and Hugo Weaving's son, Harry Greenwood.
No release date has been set for The Nightingale, however the film is expected to enter production later this month.
