Movie releases are a tad all over the place right now. Cinemas are allowed to open here in Ireland from June 29th. But the question is, will there be any new movies to screen? The first film that was scheduled to hit cinemas post lockdown was 'Mulan' on July 24th. After that is 'Tenet' which hits cinemas July 31st, after it recently postponed its release by two weeks. It looks like both movies will be overtaken by 'The Broken Hearts Gallery', a Sony Pictures release which is hitting cinemas on July 17th.
'The Broken Hearts Gallery' is a romantic comedy starring Geraldine Viswanathan and Dacre Montgomery. Montgomery would be known for his role as Billy on 'Stranger Things'.
Natalie Krinsky ('Gossip Girl') wrote the screenplay and directs while Selena Gomez exec produces.
The plot follows Lucy (Viswanathan), a 20-something art gallery assistant living in New York. She saves a souvenir from every relationship she has ever been in.
After she gets dumped, again, Lucy is inspired to create The Broken Heart Gallery, a pop-up space for the items love has left behind. Word of the gallery spreads. Meanwhile new guy Nick (Montgomery), an aspiring hotelier, encourages her to give love one more try.
Molly Gordon, Phillipa Soo and Nikki Duval also star.
It sounds ridiculous and corny, but will people really care as long as they get to see something on the big screen?
