Samuel L Jackson starrer Lakeview Terrace was the champion of a particularly weak north American box office, as it coined a decent $15.6 million to take the top spot. Other nearest opener was Dane Cook comedy My Best Friends Girl in third spot with a disappointing $8.3 million. Cook is yet to successfully transfer his the success of his stand up routine to celluloid, and needs a headlining hit to move forward. Animated tale Igor also bombed in fourth with $8 million, while Ricky Gervais' first starring role in a Hollywood production, Ghost Town, didn't exactly set the charts alight with a $5.3 million opening. It has gotten excellent reviews though, and while I've been somewhat sceptical of the man's career after The Office, Ghost Town looks excellent and he was very funny at The Emmy's last night.
