Sydney Pollock has passed on at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer. He was an acclaimed director, actor and lately a producer of films that extended the medium as an art form, as well as entertaining an audience on a mammoth scale. His helming titles include Tootsie, Out Of Africa, The Firm, The Way We Were, Three Days of the Condor and most recently The Interpreter. He’s also appeared in numerous films and TV shows over the years, popping up most recently in Made Of Honor as Patrick Dempsey’s father. He recently produced and co-starred in Michael Clayton, as well as executive producing Clooney directorial vehicle Leatherheads. He was a genuine film man, who was supremely talented as well as being socially conscious. George Clooney said this of his passing "Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better. A tip of the hat to a class act. He'll be missed terribly." We second that.
