Oliver Stone's biopic of George W. Bush, simply called 'W' has been receiving rave reviews upon its US release. Famed critic Roger Ebert described it as "fascinating" and the New York Times lauded it as "a work of imagination". Josh Brolin's portrayal of Bush has also been on the receiving end of praise, having been described as a "nuanced yet piercing". It's interesting to note that this film takes a more balanced approach to the political career of the 43rd President which is perhaps surprising considering the ultra-liberal Oliver Stone was behind the camera. The film focuses on the path that Bush walked on his way to becoming President, but some critics have suggested that the director may have abandoned his own personal politics to avoid any partisan criticism. A Michael Moore film it ain't.
