While there were some made-for-TV attempts, Sam Raimi was the first director to really have at Spider-Man movies. His trilogy starring Tobey Maguire proved a major hit; and while Marc Webb's 'Amazing Spider-Man' films in 2012 and 2014 proved less successful, audiences still wanted more Spidey.
As any Marvel fan knows, Tom Holland debuted as the character in 'Captain America: Civil War'. Then he got his solo ventures in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' and 'Spider-Man: Far From Home.' And let's not forget we also got one of the best Spider-Man movies yet in the last couple of years - the awesome animation 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.'
There's just something about this superhero's story. It has ended up striking a chord with audiences over and over.
According to reports, there will be another Holland outing as the superhero in December 2021.
