I'm actually surprised more directors haven't taken on the natural disaster that was Pompeii, dramatised it, romanticised it and turned it into one big period actioner with people making enormous declarations of love whilst simultaneously getting spewed on by lava. Well that's exactly what helmer WS Anderson has done. Oh and he's cast someone with the most ridonkulous set of abs to boot. Seriously, if you brushed off his razor sharp torso you might actually get hurt. Giving Henry Cavill a run for his money, are we?

The movie's ab-tastic protagonist comes in the form of Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington who stars here as a slave battling the volcano to get to the object of his affections, his master's daughter. Love transcends all class divisions AND natural disasters, y'see.

Kiefer Sutherland also stars.
