Eddie Murphy has confirmed that his iconic character Donkey in the 'Shrek' movies is, at last, getting a spin-off movie.
In an interview with Collider recently he confirmed that not only will the next Shrek movie be released next year, but that Donkey also has a movie on the way.
"We started doing 'Shrek' four or five months ago," he revealed. "I recorded the first act and we'll be doing it this year, we'll finish it up. 'Shrek' is coming out and Donkey's going to have his own movie. We're going to do Donkey as well.
"So we're going to do a Shrek, and we're doing a Donkey [movie]."
Asked if the two projects were being made concurrently, he said: "No, not at the same time. I started recording 'Shrek', I think it's coming out in 2025, and we're doing a Donkey one next."
Since the first 'Shrek' movie back in 2001, there have been three sequels, 'Shrek 2' (2004), 'Shrek the Third' (2007), 'Shrek Forever After' (2010) and a 'Puss in Boots' spin-off in 2011.
No word yet on the plot of 'Shrek 5' or indeed 'Donkey' but no doubt they will both be box office hits considering the previous successes of this beloved franchise.
