Selena Gomez has stepped back from music in recent years and seems to be focusing on building her career in film and television. She was an executive producer on Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and has now landed a role in the new film from legendary director Woody Allen.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gomez will star alongside Elle Fanning and newcomer Timothée Chalame in the project. The film is currently untitled and plot details are being quiet. The film is being produced by Amazon Studios, whom Allen was worked with on his previous two films. Cafe Society was released in 2016, while Wonder Wheel, starring Kate Winslet, will be released later this year.
Gomez started her acting career as a 10 year old on Barney and Friends and then went on to star in Disney Channel series, The Wizards of Waverly place. She has taken on more serious roles before, such as 2012's Spring Breakers, but this will be her biggest film to date.
The film is currently scheduled for a 2018 release, but that has not been officially confirmed. Allen typically releases a film per year.
