After Sony decided that they were once again going to reboot the Spider-Man franchise, talk quickly turned to who would replace the webslinger.

Soon enough, Sony whittled their choice down to youngster Tom Holland, with indie darling Jon Watts (Clown) signing on to direct the new film.

Now, an Oscar winner will take on the role of Aunt May, and ostensibly it seems like strange casting because, well, Aunt May was never really thought of as so attractive/young.

Now, with Marisa Tomei in final negotiations for the part, that's all seemingly changed, as the actress looks likely to take over from Sally Field in the part as the producers move towards more of an origins story, involving a young Peter Parker in school. So it makes more sense that Aunt May is a little younger.

Tomei, despite winning an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny, is an extremely underrated actor, who has shone most recently in the likes of Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Wrestler, while she'll also pop up in the much buzzed about Trainwreck.

Outside the box, cool casting if it comes off.
