Saoirse Ronan, who was Oscar nominated for her role in another one of McEwan's big screen adaptations (that being Atonement), is now set to star in the author's 2007 novel On Chesil Beach.
According to The Guardian: "The film will be directed by Dominic Cooke, whose previous credits have mainly been in the theatre, where he was artistic director of the Royal Court. A co-star has not yet been announced. It is being produced by Number 9 Films, who were the driving force behind Carol and Youth. Said producer Elizabeth Karlsen: 'It's an extremely exciting prospect to be reunited with Saoirse Ronan on such a beautiful and heartbreaking project'."
The book, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, is set in the 60s and centres on a young couple honeymooning in Dorset.
22-year-old Ronan will making another trip to the Academy Awards next weekend, as she's Oscar nominated for her role in Brooklyn - in case you hadn't heard.
