The 'Derry Girls' star has managed to nab herself a role in the new entry in the DC Universe.
Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who plays the main role of Erin Quinn in the Channel 4 comedy series set in Derry, will have a key role in DC's upcoming comic book movie 'The Flash'.
Jackson is best known for her 'Derry Girls' role, and this will mark her first venture into movies. She's been cast in 'The Flash' in an undisclosed role.
The upcoming movie will see Ezra Miller reprise his role of speedster Barry Allen, who has been in three of the DC movies to date (four if you count 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' rehash). He'll be joined in his first standalone outing by newcomer Ian Loh, who will play a younger version of the Scarlet Speedster.
Apparently 'The Flash' will be a "reset" for the World of DC movies. Both Ben Affleck AND Michael Keaton are on board the movie to play their respective versions of Batman. It's not yet known if Keaton's appearance will be a reprisal of his late '80s and early '90s depiction of the character.
Joining Saoirse-Monica Jackson as new cast members is also Ron Livingston, who will replace previously cast Billy Crudup as Henry Allen. Social media personality Rudy Mancuso has also been cast in an unknown role, with Sasha Calle as Supergirl and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.
In other Saoirse-Monica Jackson news, the long-awaited season three of 'Derry Girls' has been confirmed to get filming underway later this year. All of the production delays over the past year can be blamed for the wait, resulting in it nearly being two years since season two aired on Channel 4.
'The Flash' is currently scheduled for release on November, 2022.
