Samuel L. Jackson will apparently not play Nick Fury in the Iron Man sequel or Marvel spinoff The Avengers. The actor told the Los Angeles Times: "There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down (with Marvel). I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world (so they're saying to me), 'We're not making that deal.'" It's a shame that negotiations appear to have fallen through, as this incarnation of Nick Fury was actually based on Jackson, and it would be silly casting someone else. But as the writer with the LA Times put it, with an Avengers Movie already brimming with Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America, where would they have even fitted him in!?
