Phillip Noyce is set to direct a remake of one of my favourite childhood films, Jean Claude Van Damme starring martial arts flick, Bloodsport.
In the original flick, Van Damme played real life talented ass-whooper Frank Dux, who enters underground scrap-fest and battles his way through a series of scary sorts with much bigger muscles than him. But he can do the splits mid-air and stuff, so he batters them all. Dux and Van Damme had a very public falling out, so it's doubtful the actor will be involved with this one at all. Could be a popular UFC star taking the role; being that Dux practiced Ninjutsu it would be a bit too technical if a movie star wanted to do it right. I'm pushing for former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin to make his starring debut with the film.
Noyce last helmed the fun, if uneven Angelina Jolie flick, Salt.
