Director Nicholas Winding Refn revealed that Ryan Gosling's character in Drive might return in a new movie but has ruled out any chance of a sequel to the much talked about 2011 film.
When asked if a sequel would follow Winding Refn said '[A sequel] is never going to happen,' but hinted that he might have another ideas for Gosling's character adding 'But the character of the Driver might return in another film. We're playing with that idea. We'll see what happens.'
Drive is based on a book by the same name by author James Sallis. Sallis has already written a sequel to the first book earlier this year called....wait for it....Driven, which picks up the story seven years on. Sallis has insisted that a movie adaption of this book in underway but judging by Winding Refns comments he will not be involved in this adaption.
Winding Refn and Gosling have two other films in the pipeline with Only God Forgives and Logan's Run. Gosling is also about to begin shooting on How to Catch a Monster his directorial debut.
