Rogue One's dominance has the box office really is the stuff of legend.
In the US, the first spinoff in the Star Wars franchise has now sailed to $477 million during its run, against a production budget of $200 million. Meanwhile, here in Ireland, Rogue One has now spent four weeks on top of the Irish box office with just under €3.5 million tallied so far.
The film saw off competition from newcomers Assassin's Creed, which opened at No.2 with €537,116, and Martin Scorsese's Silence and J.A. Bayona's A Monster Calls, which opened eighth and ninth respectively.
Despite all the successes Rogue One has had in the majority of the Western world, it's failed to impress at the Chinese box office, scoring a modest $31,000,000 in its run so far. This was largely as analysts predicted, as Star Wars doesn't have much cache in popular culture in Asia.
Nevertheless, Rogue One's success elsewhere has still managed to secure a global box office of $914 million. Not bad, not bad at all.
