The extremely talented and innovative director Robert Rodriguez will reboot the Predator franchise for 20th Century Fox, according to Variety. The Sin City and Desperado helmer had written a Predator script years ago, before he had Hollywood clout, which he described as a "huge budgeted action epic" with "a gut-drenched Arnold Schwarzenegger/Jean Claude Van Damme finale". Obviously, both of those guys were huge stars at the time, so who could fill the roles now? The new film will be a reboot, and based on Rodriguez's own script, Predators - but we're not sure if he'll retain any elements from his original spec script. Could there be a better director to restart this franchise!? Rodriguez also makes fairly cheaply budgeted films look like huge productions, which will please the money men at Fox. He'll also co-direct the film Machete, based on the Grindhouse trailer that starred Danny Trejo
