Robert Rodriguez is making a sequel to his 2009 action flick Machete, say the folks at Deadline.com.
The film is part of what expected to be a planned trilogy, with Danny Trejo reprising his role as the titular antihero. This time there's something about a billionaire arms dealer and madman cartel boss going on. Either way, it's Rodriguez going back to his roots a little - just not as effectively if the first film is anything to go by.
I'm a big fan of Robert Rodriguez. He's an incredibly innovative filmmaker, but hasn't made a really good film since Sin City. Granted, his segment of Grindhouse, Planet Terror, was fun, but Machete Kills will not win him back any credibility.
