Robert De Niro's Tribecca Film Festival is in full swing, which means the normally reclusive and press shy legendary actor is being quizzed by journalists on his own upcoming projects as he's knocking about New York. Deadline.com's Mike Flemming also conducted a funny Q&A with De Niro and he answered some online questions as well as scribe queries.
When asked about the recently announced Raging Bull 2 he said, "Well, I don’t know about it (laughter). If somebody comes up with a great, great script, I’d read it and say, ‘Yeah, it’s great, I’ll think about it, consider it, sure." On Midnight Run 2 he spewed, "Somebody approached me, a young writer and he said how much he liked [the first film] and he said, ‘I’m writing a sequel if you want to [read it]’. And I said, ‘Sure! Fine.’ So it’s been going through these kind of changes." When quizzed about what his character will be doing he continued, "Well, he’s helping the son of Charles Grodin [and] he’s gotten himself in trouble. And so that’s where we are and the script is being re-worked again. But I hope to do it. It was a lot of fun to do."
There ya have it, words from the man himself. Interesting to see how Midnight Run 2 pans out, I love the first film.
