The only confirmed sequel that Quentin Tarantino has ever taken part in is his follow-up to Kill Bill.
Sure, there's been some theories that Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Desperado are set in the same universe, but a direct sequel is something Tarantino has dabbled in just once. That being said, there's always been a snifter of a rumour that he would return to Kill Bill when all the relevant actors aged out.
Back when Kill Bill, Vol.2 was initially released, Tarantino mentioned that he had an idea to use the child actor who played Vivica A. Fox's daughter and have her face off against Uma Thurman. In a recent interview, Tarantino again confirmed that plot and added a few more details.
"I wanted the character to have... I put that character - not Uma, I put Uma through a lot too - but I put that character of Beatrix Kiddo through a lot. And so I wanted her to have this much time for peace. I wanted her to have some time with her daughter and not have to be in the genre-machine. She could actually enjoy her life for a while. The whole idea was that everyone would be as old as they are."
For her part, Uma Thurman has said that she's more than up for returning as Beatrix Kiddo, so that's definitely a plus. Of course, Kill Bill and Vol.2 were filmed back-to-back so obviously, if this is the final chapter, it won't be as strenuous on Thurman. Tarantino has said that he still wants to keep with the whole Western thing and is eyeing up television as his next project.
After that is anybody's guess, but it definitely would be interesting to see how those characters and that world has changed in the interim. What do you think? Would you be up for a Kill Bill, Vol.3?
