It's hard to recall a film as hotly anticipated as Prometheus. While ostensibly linked to the Alien universe that director Ridley Scott had a huge part in creating, it seems to be more of a standalone film in its own right. Reviews have begun trickling in, and they're generally very positive.

One of the best critics in America, Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter enjoyed the film saying "Technically, Prometheus is magnificent." But he had issues with the "stock wise-guy types who spout tired one-liners." Screen Daily said it would "challenge and provoke audiences" while Robbie Collin (check out his twitter blurb, @RobbieReviews, you're welcome Robbie) was typically articulate saying, "Prometheus is, um, absolutely nuts."

It opens here in Ireland on June 1st, and we will have a review on site tomorrow lunchtime, and myself and Aoife Kelly from The Irish Daily Star will cast an eye over it in The Movie Show - live around the same time.
