We're only a few short months out from the Ghostbusters reboot, with rumours that we'll see a trailer any day now.
However, to tie us over until then, Sony Pictures have released a few new images of the Ghostbusters and Annie Potts' replacement, Chris Hemsworth. There's been a few details here and there slipping out of the set, including a quick plot summary as well. Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are two academic who co-authored a book on the existence of ghosts. Years later, now working in Columbia University, the book resurfaces and costs Wiig and McKinnon their jobs. Meanwhile, Leslie Jones is a NYC subway worker who stumbles across evidence that there's a paranormal entity threatening New York.
Cast that have been confirmed outside of the Ghostbusters themselves include Charles Dance, SNL cast Neil Casey, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams with cameos of Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and... Ozzy Osbourne? Huh.
Ghostbusters is scheduled for July 15th with a trailer expected pretty soon.
Does Kristen Wiig's outfit scream mid-'80s to anyone else? We're pretty sure our mother had an outfit EXACTLY like that.
It's also entirely possible that they're all just hipsters as well, as judging by Melissa McCarthy's glasses / flannel shirt combination.
SNL's Leslie Jones has consistently been the best thing about the show lately, so here's hoping she's just as good here.
Anyone remember The Real Ghostbusters, that cartoon show? Kate McKinnon's hairdo is VERY similar to Dr. Spengler's hairdo. Coincidence? Not likely.
And finally, Chris Hemsworth takes on the role of Annie Potts. If he doesn't say, "GHOSTBUSTERS, WHADDYA WANT?!" at some point in this film, we're giving it zero stars.
