Last night saw David Ayer, the director of upcoming comic-book movie Suicide Squad, post a picture of Jared Leto in full Joker costume.
Here's said photo. Stand by for the analysis.

Right, we're saying it now - we're not fans. He basically looks like Keith Flint from Prodigy, which in fairness, is a decent look - but not for Joker.
Here's Keith Flint, as a visual reminder.
Any image would invariably be compared back to Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight or even further back to Jack Nicholson in the original Batman.
That's understandable. However, with this, it feels almost as if Ayer was deliberately going in the opposite direction of those and pushing the elements they all had - the punk-rockness, the insanity - to the very extreme.
We get that Ayer's an extreme kinda guy and Leto, too. We just think it looks like he's going for the obvious solution. Make it weirder, make it darker, make it more.
Look, it's one image so we're not writing Suicide Squad off on the basis of just this. Realtalk, though, we're not feeling it.
