Yes, in case it wasn't clear in the headline, THAT James Hetfield of Metallica will have a supporting role in the upcoming serial killer biopic of Ted Bundy.
According to the official statement, Hetfield will play Officer Bob Hayward, "a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car but wisely suspecting much worse."
Although Hetfield's appeared in a few TV shows over the years, most notably in Showtime's Billions, this will be his first film role - and he'll be working with a familiar face, too. The director of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is none other than Joe Berlinger, who was responsible for Some Kind Of Monster, the epic three-hour documentary that birthed such moments as Dave Mustaine of Megadeth having that long-awaited confrontation with Lars Ulrich.
In the official statement, Berlinger said that having worked with Metallica previously and seeing "his charisma and powerful presence close up," the choice to cast Hetfield "seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled."

No release date has been set for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
